As someone interested in language, I need
to do a lot of reading and I thought that,
in the spirit of sharing, it would be nice
to present what I have found. There are
many many pages or blogs online and off,
and nobody could read everything, so this
is where I will try to keep you up to date
with what I have been finding.
I earn my way as an ESL teacher, teaching
my native language (in my New Zealand
tongue) to foreign students (currently
it's mostly Chinese and Saudis). I teach
academic English and try to prepare the
students for university. It's thoroughly
rewarding most of the time.
I am also a freelance translator, working
with German texts, rendering them into a
form readable, comprehensible and
appealing to English speakers. At present
I am studying a PGDip in translation
studies, honing my skills and making them
into something qualifiable. The course is
a mixture of theory, practical work and
language study.
If you have work that needs translating,
please do contact me! Even if I can't do
it myself, I will help to find someone
who can.
